About our club

Campsie Angling Association (CAA) was established as Campsie Angling Club in c. 1944. The club has fishing rights for salmon & trout on the River Glazert (and associated tributaries) and the Whitefield Pond.  The River Glazert runs from its source in the Campsie Hills through Lennoxtown and Milton of Campsie to join the River Kelvin at Kirkintilloch. More details about the fishing can be found in the section Club Waters. The club has approximately 100 members and holds monthly committee meetings in Lennoxtown Town Hall.

CAA is currently working on a number of activities to develop the club and improve the fishing available. See the Activities section for more information.

River Glazert – compulsory catch and release for the 2016 season

Following the announcement in January 2016 by the Scottish Government, we wish to confirm that the River Glazert will be 100% catch and release for the 2016 season.

We hope that members appreciate that this measure has been introduced to protect the decreasing stocks of wild salmon in Scottish waters and that members will continue to buy Campsie Angling permits and support the club.

Please therefore return all salmon with the utmost care and let us do our bit to ensure the survival of a much valued resource.

Campsie Angling Club Book with Glasgow Angling Centre (GAC)

The association has arranged a club book with Glasgow Angling Centre. A club book allows our Association to earn points with GAC, which can then be exchanged for equipment e.g. rods, reels lines etc. We would like to use this equipment to allow us to run fishing tuition sessions for the benefit of our members.

If you DO NOT have a GAC Loyalty Card or would prefer our Association to have the points for your purchases, please let the GAC staff member know when you are paying at the till. Ask them to add it to the Campsie Angling club book.

Please note that you cannot add points to your GAC Loyalty Card and also the Campsie club book.

Any points added to our club book would be much appreciated and is intended to benefit our membership.
